WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
Mission
Provide organized soccer training and education services to players and families throughout the Spokane area.
To bridge the divides that club soccer can create, providing an arena where the best players can come together to further develop their abilities with like-minded players.
To impact the Spokane soccer community by establishing training programs that will benefit all levels of soccer in our area.
To continually carry out our mission statement, we will expose our players to:
Experienced and enthusiastic staff members;
A comprehensive training program;
Academy-sponsored indoor and futsal teams (selected from within the Academy programs) when we are able;
A peer learning environment where younger players work with and learn from older players who have gone through the same program.
By emphasizing values such as respect, friendship, and integrity, SSA is dedicated to building character through athletics. In addition, every soccer player who attends our programs can improve his/her technical skills and develop an increased knowledge and appreciation of his/her role in the team game. This synthesis of character and skill building can provide attendees with lessons that will benefit them for a lifetime.
Academy Philosophy
The Spokane Soccer Academy aspires to provide organized soccer training to try to maximize the individual player’s potential. Our focus is on FUN, ENJOYMENT individual skill development, instilling discipline, confidence with the ball, a higher work ethic, and greater expectations within the individual. Understanding soccer is a game that is meant to be played with spirit and joy, we are committed to providing a structured environment where not only can the player improve but his/her spirit expressed and joy fueled. We encourage those who attend our sessions to use their imagination and creativity during the play portion of our sessions. We also encourage taking risks, explaining that making mistakes is a natural part of the game and assisting in improving their decision-making ability under pressure.
About Us
The Spokane Soccer Academy (SSA) is an academy that focuses on improving the technical abilities of the players that attend our sessions.
Our PROGRAM is based on repetition, focus, and fun!SSA does not follow a typical soccer camp model, instead, we teach through a program we have developed over the last 20+ years. While we offer programs that address many of the fundamental techniques related to the game of soccer, we specialize in coordinating a player’s body to move in a soccer-specific fashion and in developing players who are very comfortable with the ball at their feet.
Our program is for EVERYONE, not just the superstar or high-end athlete. We enjoy helping players of all athletic ability levels become better with the ball. One of our goals is to help raise the level of soccer in Spokane as a whole, as such we really look forward to working with players from every club in our area. We have programs in and around the Spokane area as well as in the Spokane Valley.
While SSA’s PROGRAM is focused on the technical side of player development, we also do our best to nurture a player’s desire to improve, help them gain an understanding of what it means to work toward a goal, and encourage them to develop the necessary work rate and focus to chase their dreams.
If you have questions about our programs, please feel free to email Kevin at: km@spokanesoccer.com. Thank you!

A Statement of Faith
I love Jesus and believe He died for my sins
Youth sports has taken many young people out of church and made it very difficult to participate regularly in youth group activities that help them to grow in their faith. Games are on weekends and kids are training for some sport every day of the week it seems. For many years I have felt a strong desire to have my company, The Spokane Soccer Academy, be a place to help bridge that gap a little.
I have always been hesitant to follow through on this because "I was not good enough". Anyone who has been around me knows that I am far from perfect. There are so may things I do that make me think that I am not worthy to represent Jesus' love for us. I am not exactly the best example of forgiveness and grace.... I am extremely blunt in my assessments at times, I hold grudges, I can respond in anger inappropriately by using a profane word under my breath, I laugh at jokes I shouldn't... I could go on and on. However the more I dive into God's word and pray about this, the more convicted I am that I need to do this to some degree. I am hoping that this might bridge the gap for kids a little bit but that it helps me to grow as well. I know I have a lot to work on and that is what life is about.
I am starting this entire project off with just a presence within the Spokane Soccer Academy. A presence on our website, a presence on all of our Academy t-shirts, and perhaps have a blog sometime this year.
We will always be a training entity open to everyone so this addition will not impact our services or be restrictive in any way. The Spokane Soccer Academy has always been an extension of me and my beliefs when it came to soccer training. I am just opening up to reveal myself a little more so that our environment goes beyond the game.
In this, I know I will make mistakes. I also know that when I open up to a more public way of living my faith, some may hold me more accountable for what I do and say. Faithful living does not promise us easy living but trials and tribulations prove the authenticity of our faith. I just have to do my best and respond to any failure or mistake properly.
Matthew 10:32 - Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
