LAYING THE FOUNDATION

KINDERGARTEN TO 2ND GRADE

This is where it all starts!! Our staff introduces technical training to this energetic group of children while keeping the environment fun, positive, and age-appropriate. At this stage, the most important goal is to help young players develop a genuine love for the game. Participants will receive an introduction to technical training in a setting that is enjoyable, encouraging, and built to create excitement around soccer.

Because attention spans are naturally shorter, this age group trains 15 minutes less than our other sessions. That adjustment allows us to keep the experience engaging and enjoyable, prioritizes quality over dragging the session out too long and help the children leave the field still excited to come back .

8:00-9:15am

BUILDING THE PLAYER

3RD TO 6TH GRADE

This phase is designed for children who are ready for a more focused developmental environment. At this stage, players begin to move beyond simple introduction and into more intentional technical training. Our staff continues to teach in an energetic and encouraging way, but with greater emphasis on repetition, detail, discipline, and the habits that help players truly improve. The goal is to keep players enjoying the game while helping them build a stronger technical base for the future.

8:00-9:30am

REFINING THE PLAYER

7TH & 8TH GRADE

Refining the Player is designed for athletes who are ready for a more demanding and intentional stage of development. At this age, training should place greater emphasis on technical sharpness, consistency, discipline, and accountability. Our staff creates an encouraging but challenging environment where players are pushed to improve their habits, execute with greater precision, and take more ownership of their growth. This is also a stage where competitiveness is increasingly encouraged. Players should begin learning how to compete at a higher level, respond with resilience when under pressure, and embrace challenge rather than avoid it. The goal is to continue developing the individual player while preparing them for the increasing demands of the game ahead.

8:00-9:30am

DEVELOPING THE COMPETITOR

HIGH SCHOOL AGES

For our Developing the Competitor phase, families should clearly understand the level and intent of the training environment. This group is designed to be highly competitive and is structured to challenge players across the spectrum. We operate with what we call a “no mercy rule”, meaning stronger players are expected to maintain a high standard and compete fully at all times, while developing players are expected to respond with resilience, determination, and a never-quit mindset. The purpose of this approach is to raise the level of everyone in the session by creating an environment where intensity, accountability, and honest competition are consistent. This phase is open to any player who registers, but families should do so with the understanding that the expectations are demanding and the competitiveness is intentional.

9:45-11:15am

All players must register for their grade appropriate session unless Kevin has invited you to play-up. This is done on an invitational basis only and training at grade is required for ALL players that have not been year round participants for at least 2 years. If a player is more advanced than their grade level we will make that determination and invite a player to move up in time. This has been our rule since we began training players in 2000 and as such we will not be making changes. please feel free to email Kevin with questions at km@spokanesoccer.com. Thank you.
